Basic Tools for a Beginner Investor/Trader
3
0
...now, investors have this advantage of time over traders and tsupiteros, they don't care and most of them feel nothing when swings in prices happen. They view their placements in stocks as investments and are there for the long haul. These are retirees and their likes who put their investible capital on established listed companies like SMC, MPI, MER, AC, ALI, AGI and other blue chip stocks

...on the other hand, there are the short termers or tsupiteros or day traders that capitalize on the swings in prices in stocks. They buy and then sell on a trading plan (sometimes wala pa nga eh hehe)

...if you happen to fall as a trader, then you must have some of the basic tools that a prudent trader (or investor) have: a charting software and a means to update, on a daily basis, your charts as generated by your charting software.

...the charting software of choice is amibroker and pseget is its allied software usd to update amibroker

...amibroker is not free, it can be bought online but pseget is a freeware though a small donation for the software author should be given as gift

...if you are determined enough, you can search for a version of amibroker in the net which you can use

...tinker with your charting software, and your pseget add-on, do this while reading and internalizing books about technical analysis, well if you wait long enough, we'll be posting some technical analysis videos here

...pm me if you need help

How to rig the Philippine Stock Exchange index with some pennies

June 2, 2011

This may sound to shocking, but it can be done. In fact i wanted to write about this “delicacy” for quiet some time now but always find myself at the mercy of time. This view was also shared and always monitored by a friend. I bet short term traders are observant too and are waiting for the rig move, because as the term implies, this is a delicacy. A yummy trade so to speak. That is, if you predict the rig stock for that day.

How it was done, I will explain but I will not name names. I always believe the riggers were offshore accounts. I simply call these riggers, the caymans.

This kind of rig is a traders delight. A delicacy. For a trader to spot the rig stock, that trader got a 3-min window of scanning the blues comprising the Philippine Stock Exchange Index. A trader needs to monitor the Regional markets and the sentiment of the US and Euro futures markets. A forex trading platform (with gold & silver) is a plus in monitoring wide fluctuations of currencies. Usually s big pip-move against or for the US dollar may indicate equities sentiment. The trader needs to identify which brokers to watch and religiously monitor their activities. Hard to find but can be spotted. It can be done with luck and experience. Happy hunting.

Who’s who?

For a high complex and developed markets where data and information are being feed in an algorithm trading platform, traders uses this strategy to accumulate the weakness of the open position. the traders then exploit these weakness (e.g. stop loss/trail stops/margin calls) to manipulate a certain trade. for an easy understanding (even though impossible because we have no such technology here), lets take AEV.

If i wanted to buy huge chunk of AEV and with the aide of this trading platform, i will check the trading automation orders being “feed” to my platform. example, 11:50am, AEV trading at 41.30 but there’s a 100k shares long position with a stop order at 40.80, there’s another 100k shares stop order at 40.50 and so on. checking other data, i noticed there's a huge open long position with STOP LIMIT ORDER at 38.80, say 1M shares. With my super doper trading platform and with all those algos programming, every info and data being feed to my system is my cutting edge to other traders. now in order to get those shares, i will trigger a panic sell on those stops (just like the flashcrash). With my algos, i will execute a sufficient supply that will trigger those stop orders, nano second before closing, at exactly 38.80. Now isnt it nice? *gigols*
However ours is not a market with stop loss orders, so the rig is somewhat akin to this strategy.
Just a thoughts. Just a theory. Caveat.

Newbies be Cautious of "Praise" Releases

The recent mining activities have been viewed by many as a boost to the sector itself. Listed mining companies have never been a dull trade as of late, prompting the rotten shells with mining tenements joining the fray.
Last month we saw private placements made by a so called mining company to a hefty sum of almost a billion peso. with a little twist of math, 25% of this and 25% of that, total cash raised (i doubt it) is around 7% of what was publicized. such news can easily excite newbies whose orientation to stock market investing has been clouded by fast money. you coupled the cash hoard (yeah right) with refurbish news some 3 years ago and you got a hype. a little pad (pump and dump) and whoa....

Now, as much as possible, we let the newbies do what they like coz its their money after all. but you see, it leaves me heartbroken to just received emails about being depress, about losing one's shirt (after all i myself dont wear any shirts) and most of all losing one's ass coz of some hyped news he or she read in the net.

So here it goes, how to identify hyped news...
